After its recent design of 1/JBR, a luxurious high-rise tower located in such a prominent location of the Jumeirah Beach Residences in Dubai, EDGE undertook another equally fascinating project.
The newest addition to the EDGE design portfolio is the Coastal Towers project. The main central tower is the pinnacle of this mixed-use project for the Bay La Sun district in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) in Saudi Arabia. KAEC is located along the dramatic and unspoilt coastline of the Red Sea, around 100 km north of Jeddah, the commercial hub of the Kingdom.
Coastal Towers comprises the iconic 60 storey central tower as well as four surrounding towers, all situated to take advantage of sea-views whilst having the support at ground level and along the beachfront of a retail promenade which will create a high-end community experience.
The design of the Coastal Towers needed an iconic focal point and EDGE provided a design solution of 5 residential towers with a 5 star hotel which provides the Client and purchasers with stunning views toward the coastline for more than 80% of the units. Because of the need for these views, the towers were angled in a way which ensures the vast majority of the units enjoy uninterrupted views of the water despite this being a fairly dense development.
On the ground plane, the towers provide a much-needed extension of the coastline promenade providing more pedestrian connectivity with retail and Food & Beverage all along the sea-facing edge of the site.
Creating a destination and transforming skylines, as well as turning places into prestigious locations to live, work and play requires unique architectural solutions and designs. This quality and design excellence had been recognised at the Real Estate Awards Jeddah 2016 where Coastal Towers were awarded for the best Commercial & Mixed Use Project 2017.
